who is your next hire: a lone genius or a lovable fool? 

with a body of work that speaks for itself across meetings and departments, the lone genius seemingly has the upper hand. until, that is, when you need him to play nicely with the team. he becomes a bottleneck. everything goes through him, and his colleagues are intimidated by his ability. not only that, but managers may see him as difficult to promote. he is an important asset, after all. 

on the other hand, you have a lovable fool: he's easy to work with, admits his mistakes, and it's just great to tag along with. you know he's never going to step out of line during that important meeting with the client, and he's more than happy to negotiate the best solution under difficult circumstances.
